Amer Fort History in Hindi

amer fort history in hindi

Situated about 11 km from the capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur, the Amer Fort was once the residence of the Meena tribe. Made of red sandstone and marble, the Amer Fort is built on four levels of the hill. And there is a huge courtyard on each level.

There are two famous stories behind the construction of Amer Fort. Both the stories are given below in sequence.

#1 . According to Lieutenant-Colonel James Todd of the British East India Company, this place was earlier known as Khogong. At that time a very good and generous king ruled here.

He was the king of the Meena tribe. His name was Ralun Singh and he was also known as Elan Singh Chanda. Once a Rajput mother and child sought shelter from the Meena king.

The Meena king was very generous and large-hearted so he gave shelter to both mother and son. As the child grew up, Ralun Singh started teaching him the work of Meena governance and also started involving him in state affairs.

The name of that child was Dhola Rai and he was also known as Dulhe Rai. Once the Meena king Ralun Singh sent him to Delhi to represent the Meena kingdom. The people of the Meena dynasty were always equipped with their weapons.

One thing that was kept very secret in the Meena dynasty was that they used to separate their scriptures from themselves while bathing and performing ancestral rituals on the day of Diwali. One day the Kachwaha Rajputs came to know about this secret.

As soon as the Rajputs came to know about this, they started waiting for Diwali very eagerly and on the day of Diwali, the Rajputs attacked those unarmed people of Meena dynasty with full preparation and filled that place with heaps of their dead bodies.

In this way the Rajputs established their kingdom at Khogong. Even today in the pages of history this act of the Kachchwaha Rajputs is seen as very shameful and cowardly.

Raja Kankil Dev got the first Rajput construction done when Amer became his capital in 1036. Most of the present buildings were built by Raja Man Singh. One of those buildings is the Amer Fort.

The Amer Fort was built by Raja Man Singh in the 16th century. It was earlier known as Kadimi Mahal. This palace is considered to be very ancient. This ancient palace is located in the valley behind the Amer Fort.

#2 . Dhola Rai, son of Sodha Singh of Raja Narwar, defeated the Minas in a battle around 1137 and later defeated the Badgujars of Dausa in the same battle and established the rule of his Kachwaha dynasty.

Sodhaji of Raja Narwar was a later descendant of Kush, son of Raja Ramchandraji. Kankil Dev, son of Dulharai, defeated the Minas and made Amer his capital.

Prithviraj, the ruler of this dynasty, was a vassal of Maharana Sanga of Mewar. Prithviraj fought on the side of Rana Sanga in the Battle of Khanwa. He was a devotee of Saint Krishnadas Payhari.
