Barog Tunnel History

The work of construction of Barog Tunnel or Tunnel No. 33 was given to Colonel Barog. To complete the tunnel quickly, he started the work from both the sides of the hill and started giving orders to the workers according to his wishes.

Colonel Bardog was under pressure from the British government to complete the construction of the tunnel as soon as possible, due to which he was not able to rest properly.

As a result of this, there was some mistake in their digging and the dug parts on both the sides of the hill went in different directions instead of joining together. Due to this mistake, all the workers got disappointed and started doubting the decisions of Colonel Barog.

Due to all these reasons, he became very upset and sad. On top of this, the British government imposed a fine of Rs 1 on him for wasting government resources and also removed him from his post. He could not bear this insult and sadness and one day he shot himself in the same incomplete tunnel.

After Colonel Barog, the work of building the tunnel was given to Chief Engineer HSHerlington. He too faced many difficulties but the tunnel work was completed under the guidance of Baba Bhalaku.
