Maharana Pratap’s wife (Maharana Pratap Spouse)

Maharana Pratap was the king of Mewar and he had many responsibilities towards Mewar. He was not only fighting the Mughals but also preventing other Rajput kings from bowing down to the Mughals.

But due to the growing power of the Mughals, many Rajput rulers surrendered to the Mughals to prevent their territories from being attacked. But these things were against the principles of Maharana Pratap.

Maharana Pratap also probably married many Rajputana princesses to increase his power so that his political alliance with other Rajput rulers could increase and he could expand his power.

Maharana Pratap had a total of eleven wives, five daughters and twenty-two sons. But his most favourite was his first wife Ajabde  Punwar.

Maharana Pratap’s first wife was Maharani Ajabde Punwar. He was married to Ajabde Punwar in the year 1557 at the age of just 17 years.

Some people also say that both of them were close friends before marriage. However, no concrete evidence has been found for this.  

After the marriage of Maharana Pratap and Maharani Ajabde  Punwar, their first and eldest son Amar Singh was born in the year 1559, who later took the place of Maharana Pratap. Apart from Amar Singh, Maharani Ajabde had another son named Bhagwandas  .

Maharana Pratap (Maharana Pratap)

Maharana Pratap Singh Sisodia was born in Kumbhalgarh of Mewar on 9 May 1540. His father’s name is Rana Uday Singh and his mother’s name is Maharani Jayawanti Bai. Marharana Pratap’s first guru was also his mother i.e. Jayawanti Bai.

From childhood he had all the qualities of a good leader. After the death of Rana Uday Singh in 1572, Rani Dheer Bai’s son Jagmal was asked to become the new king as he was the eldest son of Uday Singh.

But due to the Mughal attack the circumstances were adverse and the senior courtiers of the palace suggested that only Maharana Pratap could handle this situation.

Thus Maharana Pratap inherited his father’s throne and became the new king. He fought two major battles of Haldighati and Dewar in his life due to which his name became immortal in the pages of history.

Maharana Pratap Death

Maharana Pratap spent the last days of his life in Chavand, which is currently located in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan. According to some people, when Maharana Pratap went hunting, he got seriously injured due to some reason.

Due to these injuries, Maharana Pratap died at Chavand on 19 January 1597, at the age of 56. A mile or two away from Chavand is the village of Bandoli where Maharana Pratap was cremated on the banks of the river and a memorial has also been built at this place which is known as Maharana Pratap’s Chhatri.

After his death, his eldest son Amar Singh took his place. While dying, he asked his son Amar Singh to win back Chittor and not bow down to the Mughals. 

Conclusion

Maharana Pratap was the king of Mewar state. After the war with the Mughals, his military strength had decreased considerably. He never accepted defeat in his life and never bowed down to the Mughals.

Friends, it is said that to increase his military capability and political scope, he also married Rajput princesses of many states.

Among the wives of Maharana Pratap, the name of his first wife was Rani Ajabde Punwar. Apart from her, Maharana Pratap had ten more wives. But among all of them, Ajabde Punwar’s eldest son Amar Singh later took the place of his father Maharana Pratap.
