According to Jayasi’s writings, Padmavati was a very beautiful and attractive princess of the Sinhalese kingdom . Ratan Singh was captured and imprisoned by the Sultan of Delhi, Alauddin Khilji. During his imprisonment, King Devpal became infatuated with Queen Padmavati and proposed marriage to her.

When King Ratan Singh came to know about this after Khilji was released from captivity, he attacked Devpal and both of them were killed in this war. Later, Alauddin Khilji laid siege to Chittor and attacked it to get Queen Padmavati.

Seeing Chittor being lost, he committed Jauhar along with his companions before being captured by Khilji and along with him many Rajput warriors sacrificed their lives fighting the enemies.

Apart from this, many articles are different from Jayasi’s articles. For example, Rani Padmini’s husband Ratan Singh died during the war with Alauddin Khilji. After the defeat in the war, Rani Padmavati committed Jauhar to save her honour.
